Teen Beauty Routines & DIY face masks

BEAUTYKim & ChloeComment

I recently was sent a copy of Bonding Over Beauty whichgives countless ideas for moms and daughters to bond over beauty rituals. Don't we all have memories of watching our moms put on their makeup and wondering if we could ever be so glamorous? And maybe sneaking a try of a lipstick or two when she wasn't looking! We checked out the book and found some gems. Both of us love a good homemade beauty mask and body scrub, and the recipes in the book are fantastic... and endorsed by skin care experts. The author, Erika Katz, is an expert herself, having modeled since 3 months (wow!) and worked in Hollywood and New York since then. Thanks to Erika's book, Bonding Over Beauty, we can share some of the recipes with you... but for more suggestions we suggest picking up the book.

There are amazing recipes for at-home facials and homemade beauty masks with step-by-step directions. They are good for all skin types, but the Honey Oatmeal Mask would help calm the skin in acne prone skin, while the Soy-Blueberry is more hydrating and the Egg-Yogurt firms and softens. There are plenty of fantastic ideas in the book, but these are our faves:

You will need: ½ cup dry old-fashioned oatmeal ¼ cup avocado 1 teaspoon honey 1 tablespoon olive oil Directions: 1. In a bowl, mix the honey, olive oil, and avocado. 2. Add in the oatmeal and mix thoroughly. 3. Let the mixture sit on your face and dry a bit (about 15 minutes) then rinse thoroughly, followed with a wet washcloth.
