little black dress

FASHIONChloe GordonComment

I feel like little black dresses have been under appreciated lately. I haven’t been hearing much about them and it kind of depresses me. I’ll be the first to say it: I’m a minimalistic fashionista. I don’t like all the bells and whistles. The simpler the better. Honestly, if I could just wear jeans and a striped tee everyday and not feel like a cartoon character (the ones that never change clothes) then I would be my happiest. Instead, I scramble everyday to find a variation of that outfit.

Recently, Tobi.com reached out to me to work together and I couldn’t have been more excited. Before they reached out I had purchased a sweater and a suede jacket, and let me tell you, they are two of the most awesome pieces I’ve ever order online — which is saying a lot!

Anyway, I picked out this little black dress and I fell in love with it. It’s a little different that “just a dress” because of the cutout and thefitted waistline. I’m obsessed. This dress will most likely be making an appearance at my sorority formal in the spring, and I can’t wait.

I think the reason I most love little black dresses is the fact that they can be worn with anything. Like you could totally dress it up with fancy heels and bag and necklace, or dress is down with some booties a cargo jacket and big bag. The options are endless, even for a minimalistic person like me!

Let me know which outfit you like better in the comments below: casual or fancy.

Keurig Makes Life More Romantic

RECIPES, College, EXTRASChloe Gordon1 Comment

You know those pictures that show the contents of people’s bags organized in a perfect manner. The lines between each object are unbelievably straight, not one object looks out of place, and everything just flows? You know the ones, right?

The way these pictures make me feel is the exact same way drinking coffee makes me feel. You know what I mean. Just like totally put together and with it. Obviously, I probably don’t look put together and with it, but they always said it’s what’s on the inside that counts the most.

Coffee just has super powers, I swear. I don’t know what it is but there’s something about coffee that just makes me feel great. It’s probably the caffeine, but we’ll call it magic

Keurig sent me a ton of k-cups to sample, and lemme tell you, receiving the box made me weak in the knees.

Obviously, the first one I had to try was the Maple Cream one. With words on the box including “no milk or sugar needed” and “sweet and creamy” it was a no brainer. It’s a little too hot in Florida to drink hot coffee, so I decided to get minimally creative and freeze the coffee into ice cubes and then put the ice cubes into a cup of regular coffee.

I’m trying to stay humble, but this idea might be my breakthrough to finally becoming a member of Mensa.

Basically, it’s like having two cups of coffee in one, iced, and no sugar or milk needed.

When I go back to college, you can bet your bottom dollar that I’m going to be filling my freezer with coffee filled ice cube trays. If you're going to college for the first time, going back to college, or living at all, you NEED a Keurig in your life. It makes life better, easier, and more romantic, honestly.

In one of my classes, we’ve been watching a movie called Searching for Sugar Man.  It’s a documentary about an underground — presumably dead — musician who lived his life not knowing that a bootleg copy of his music went viral in South Africa after someone brought it back from America. It’s a super great movie and I totally recommend it, but the reason I’m bringing it up isn’t to talk about the movie, but to talk about the lyrics within Sugar Man’s songs.

I’m not really a music person. I love listening to music, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t know a lot of artists or song names, I just kind of listen to what I like when I’m feeling it, if that makes any sense at all. However, when I heard Rodriguez’s music I was infatuated. They’re just so poetic and perfect, and despite the fact of not being able to think of another adjective that starts with a P, I totally recommend you check out his stuff! Especially the songs “Sugar Man” and “I Wonder.”

Speaking of poetic and perfect things, can we take a moment to appreciate Free People clothes as of lately. They are seriously too perfect I can’t get over it — I mean check out how cool these leggings are. They’re the kind of clothes that you can throw on when you’re not feeling your prettiest and then feel transformed into a chic Pinterest person. So do yourself a favor and check out their newest stuff, you won't regret it.

Oh and one more perfect thing? Marshall, the amazing person behind these pictures! He’s seriously so talented, and I feel lucky to have been able to shoot with him. Check out his Instagram if you're in need of some photographic inspiration, another thing you for sure won’t regret.

behind the 'gram

RANDOM STUFFChloe Gordon3 Comments

Instagram is weird if you think about it. It’s kind of like a life highlight reel, mixed with a diary, mixed with a whole lot of filters and hashtags and captions. It’s weird to think that so much thought can go into one, seemingly, simple picture. It’s also sad how much time I spend on the planning of an Instagram post. I try to think about the color scheme, the framing, the subject matter, the filter, the lighting, the caption, the hashtags, and then if I should or shouldn’t push the photo to Twitter. So much goes into one picture.

I was recently tagged by Jamie from The Fashion Newcomer to post never posted Instagrams, but I usually delete the pictures that don’t make the cut so that I can make room for new pictures. So I decided that I’d post a behind the ‘gram post. Now, I’ve done this kind of post before, but you all seem to enjoy them for the most part so here goes yet another one. I hope you enjoy.

dang clementine

Dang Clementine
I had an independent study class second semester this past school year and I basically got to come up with my own projects for the class. One of my projects was to continue working on my calligraphy so I brought all my supplies to school. As I was writing I was also simultaneously eating a clementine that happened to be disgusting. Then, I was stuck with inspiration for what ti write. I initially just posted this picture to my snapchat (it’s chloeg1 if you want to see me embarrass myself) but I decided it was good enough to make the Instagram cut.

scotland skyline

Scotland Skyline
I went on a school trip to Scotland for spring break and it was absolutely amazing. One of the days we visited Edinburgh and my friends and I climbed to the top of the Gothic Rocket. We had to go up hundreds of steps via a seemingly never-ending circle staircase and by the time I got to the top all I wanted to do was sit down. But the view was so beautiful. As I took this picture I was so extremely worried that my phone was going to fly out of my hands because it was so windy, but I managed to capture this photo, keep my phone in my hands, and enjoy the scenery. Props to me for restraining my clumsy self.

hubert's lemonade e

Poolside Lemonade
My friends and I adventured to the pool a few days ago, and we decided to bring our own lunch (aka buy lunch from Whole Foods). One of my friends and I decided that we were in the mood for a trendy drink and Hubert’s Lemonade caught our eye. Right when we got to the pool, I made my friend take a picture of our Lemonades. I took at least seven pictures at different angles and different ways of holding the bottle before I settled with this one. It then took me forever to figure out which filter to use.

Instagram is an art form, I’m telling you. I’d love to read your behind the ‘gram post, so feel free to post one of your own and leave a link to it in the comments!
